ÉGLISE SAINT-ÉTIENNE
Church opposite the castle, below the lakeside village, a Gothic-style building with a carved wooden interior
When you reach the lake below the village, you can clearly see the church of Saint-Étienne on your left, facing the château. It's the best view you'll have of Lauzun. The Gothic-style edifice has replaced a primitive Romanesque church, the remains of which can still be seen in the portal. Step inside to admire the magnificent carved wooden altarpiece, the high altar and the 17th-century pulpit, listed as Monuments Historiques since 1910 and restored in early 2010. The furnishings are a true marvel.
