THEOBON CASTLE
A stronghold that became an elegant country residence at the junction of the Lot-et-Garonne, the Dordogne and the Gironde.
What adventures this beautiful castle has known! Heavily damaged during the French-English wars and rebuilt at the end of the 15th century, it was again damaged during the Revolution. Only the involvement of history and old stone enthusiasts prevented it from falling into total ruin. Renovation projects followed one another. The beautiful painted ceilings have been restored to their former splendor. The most beautiful fireplace of the castle was sold in the 1920s and is now in a museum owned by Harvard University.
