SAINT BENOIT'S CHAPEL
Chapel with 2 artistic currents of the XVIIth, classicism and baroque, this historical monument shelters 7 paintings of the Toulouse school
This building illustrates two major artistic trends of the 17th century: classicism and baroque. Formerly part of the convent of the nuns of the Order of Saint Benedict founded in 1645, the nuns were expelled in 1792, and the chapel was transformed into a revolutionary prison. The sub-prefecture moved into the convent in 1806 and the chapel became a place of entertainment for soldiers. It was not restored to worship until 1839. The chapel has been classified as a Historic Monument since 2005. Admire the seven paintings of the Toulouse school of the 18th century.
