ATELIER D’ARTS DU FEU
By the quality of its sand and water, the Saint-Céré valley was predestined to develop the art of glassmaking. This former dairy houses two fire craftsmen: Olivier Mallemouche, glassblower, apprentice of his uncle when he was 15 years old, acquired his freedom of creation which makes him an artist several times rewarded, notably by the first departmental prize of the SEMA crafts in 1993. To see him working, assisted by trainees and apprentices, is in itself a discovery and a wonder. From the glass paste to the finished object, in the other room, it is the earth that passes through the fire. Arlette Angenieux turns, cooks and glazes the earthenware. She also does utility work. The set of objects for the house is displayed in shades of red, black and grey. Hélène Guillon, ceramist, also offers works worked on site. A visit worth a visit.
