Visit the Badernes, a district of narrow streets lined with medieval houses in Cahors.
Behind Saint-Etienne's cathedral, you'll find the Badernes or "bas quartier", where Rue Nationale, Rue du Château-du-Roi and Rue des Soubirous formed the main artery of the medieval town. This district is made up of narrow streets lined with medieval half-timbered houses with carved doors and windows. The Lavoir district, bordered by the remodeled façade of the magnificent Hôtel de Vayrols (333, rue Nationale), offers a curious blend of ancient and modern. A stroll through the Badernes is like stepping back in time.
