Carennac is home to Nadine Lebas Céramiques, an arts and crafts workshop specializing in terra sigillata. Self-taught ceramist Nadine Lebas was inspired by Pierre Bayle to create unique pieces in white chamotte stoneware. The sigillas are applied in thin, superimposed layers, like Japanese lacquer, giving the pieces a special lustre. The pieces are then gas-fired at temperatures ranging from 1080 to 1160°C. Some are then placed in an airtight box and fired to 580°C or 800°C.
