ST. PETER'S CHURCH
Church built at the end of the 11th century in the center of the monastic complex
At the foot of the cliffs of the Causse de Gramat, bathed by the waters of the Dordogne, the monastic village of Carennac developed around a Cluniac priory founded in the middle of the 11th century. Famous for its Romanesque tympanum and Gothic tomb, the church of Saint-Pierre, built at the end of the 11th century, is at the centre of the monastic complex. The porch, built in front of this façade, has a carved tympanum representing Christ in majesty in a mandorla, surrounded by the Tetramorph and the apostles. Listed as a Historic Monument.

The ratings and reviews below reflect the subjective opinions of members and not the opinion of The Little Witty.
Another ex-church is apparently transformed into art gallery from an artist exposed paintings and sculptures to it in August 2016.
The streets are not too steep and even the cobbled streets are available as strollers and/or a wheelchair.
Shops offer specialties (walnut cake, caramelized walnuts etc.), homemade ice cream. The shopping of the “walnut Bar”, opposite the church is particularly friendly and does not hesitate to sample its caramelized walnuts passers-by
