DEAN'S CASTLE
16th century castle, home to the Dordogne Valley Art and History Country Heritage Center with a permanent exhibition
The Château des Doyens is a beautiful private residence dating from the 16th century, built in ashlar, which includes, with the attic, three floors of apartments. A spiral staircase serves the entire height of the building. On the second floor is the ceremonial room, the best preserved at present. The 17th century ceiling with protruding beams is painted with foliage, flowers, baskets and various mythological subjects. The castle is now home to the Espace patrimoine du pays d'art et d'histoire de la vallée de la Dordogne. It presents a permanent exhibition in free access, which allows to discover the natural, patrimonial and architectural richness of this country labeled "Country of art and history" by the Ministry of Culture.
