CABANAC CHURCH

This church, whose origins dates back to the th century, would have been (according to an old quercynoise legend) built by the English to celebrate the harvest of the now extinct city. Legend tells us that one night the English army had placed goats with candles fixed to their heads in boats on the river to make the French people who were in the city, that they were attacked from the river. But landing upstream allowed them to bypass the village to take the French at setbacks. Informed of the capture of the city, the English leader asked one of his men to launch an arrow and to have a church built in his landing point to thank God for giving them victory. Classified as a historic monument since 1989, the chapel with its majestic square tower stands straight among the vineyards. A unique wonder of lotois heritage.
