JAMING CHRÉTIEN
Inside its large walnut oil mill built in 1827, Chrétien Jaming allows the curious to touch with their fingers the secrets of the artisanal production processes of its oil. You can admire the two huge wheels (one tonne each!) crushing the kernels. The paste that remains after grinding is then harvested by the mill, which heats it to 30 or 40 °C and then transfers it to a square of jute cloth. The whole thing is finally placed in a press and the walnut oil can flow freely. The oilcake, what remains of the pressing, can be kept for use as feed for the mill's cattle. Rapeseed oil is also produced by Jaming Chrétien in the same mill. It can be visited without an appointment during heritage and mill days. Remember to stock up on these old-fashioned oils that will give a wonderful taste to all your preparations...
