HOLY BASILICA
Basilica whose quadripartite vault, supported by a large double arch, is of great beauty
A Unesco World Heritage Site, this basilica dates from the 11th-13th centuries, a pivotal period between Romanesque and Gothic art, and is one of a kind. Its two naves are built directly against the cliff face, and the wooden mezzanine, added in the 19th century, overlooks the whole. The choir features a gilded bas-relief depicting the Assumption, as well as a 16th-century polychrome statue of Christ. One of the apses contains the relics of Saint Amadour. The majestic quadripartite vault is a true architectural masterpiece.
