Flamboyant Gothic chapel with 15th century frescoes, nave, choir, miraculous bell and statue of the Black Virgin

This chapel is considered as the sacred jewel of Rocamadour. Rebuilt in flamboyant gothic style, it opens under a sculpted tympanum on a façade decorated with 15th century frescoes. The nave and choir, vaulted with ogives, are surmounted by stone tribunes, while on the ceiling hangs a miraculous bell, renowned for ringing miracles by itself. Numerous ex-votos testify to the gratitude of the believers. On the altar, the 13th century reliquary statue of the Black Madonna carrying on her left knee the Child Jesus with an adult face

La Chapelle abrite une statue en bois de la vierge noire qui protège les marins, des bateaux sont accrochés au plafond, la cloche est sensée sonner quand un miracle à lieu en mer...pouquoi à Rocamadour? C'est le lieu le plus sacré pour les nombreux pèlerins sur les chemins de Compostelle.

Chapelle en hauteur, à flanc de rocher. L'effort de monter les nombreuses marches vaut le coup lorsqu'on arrive à cette chapelle !

Style gothique et flamboyant pour cette chapelle haut perché à flan de rocher , beaucoup de symbole lié au marin sont présent dans cette chapelle ( pour info : la vierge de Rocamadour a ét déplacer aux Sables d'olonne durant toute la durée du dernier Vendée globe afin de protéger les marins)

Chapelle perchee sur les rochers, il se dégage une énergie formidable dans ce sanctuaire. L'architecture intérieure est juste extraordinaire, même si la visite à ete tres courte car le lieu était en plein office et bondé de pèlerins.
