CHRISTIAN DESTIEU GALLERY
His paintings are of a new kind, combining two disciplines, ceramics and painting. The work has a particular density thanks to its texture the different grains of the clay and the flesh with coloured variations and flame-like specific effects. Christian Destieu uses fine stainless steel grates he coated with a mixture of two refractory earths. Once the support is dry, the artist puts and polishes a background of ferruginous slip. He carves an image in the soft earth with different bunk slips that are both figure and abstraction. He also creates standing figures, silhouettes without reality, tallied shadows, framed... A painting that has kept its ceramic identity with these masonry earths and the rapid, violent passage to fire, which signs the works with an element of chance. A studied work! To be seen absolutely…
