Caves with concretions of varying hues and shapes, water infiltration still generates stalactites and stalagmites
The Grottes de Presque celebrated their 100th anniversary in 2022. They feature an uninterrupted sequence of concretions enhanced by modern lighting. The cave is still very much alive, with water infiltration continuing to generate stalactites, stalagmites and other columns (ranging in age from 400 to some 80,000 years old...). Unusual draperies, the Black Madonna, a frozen waterfall and numerous stalagmitic pillars 8 to 10 metres high - unique in the Lot region - some of them as fine as the "cierges" are dazzling.
