DINANDERIE D’ART – SIMON CHARBONNIER
What is a dinandier? Some will think, and they will not be wrong, that it is a profession that has a link with the city of Dinan (in Belgium). It was in this city that was in the th century, people who worked the metal in attacking. They made useful objects. There are no longer very many dinandiers. Because he works with finesse of materials that are not as noble as gold or silver, Simon Charbonnier sees himself as "the goldsmith of the poor". He learned the boiler, then welding, then tracing, martelage and dinanderie. Today Simon always creates objects of all beauty and he transmits his knowledge to young people. He transmits to them the centuries-old tradition of copper, tin, or silver sheet drummers (who work in the cold), while bringing his modern know-how. He proposes to sell his sculptures and art objects from the table.
