LO CAMIN DELS CARBONIÈRS
Lo Camin Dels Carbonièrs, a story of farmers digging holes on their small plot of land in Carmaux.
The story goes that as early as the 13th century, small carboniferous veins were found in the Carmaux-Monestiés area. Farmers dug holes in their small plots of land, galleries 60 cm in diameter and 12 m long at most. These methods lasted for four centuries before, pushed by the regrouping of land, many of them settled in Carmaux for good. This is the story told by Lo camin dels carbonièrs over 12 km, starting at the church of Sainte-Gemme. Count 3h30 of course, along a yellow marking.
