CHURCHES OF CASTLES
Go there and contact
Visit the churches of Castres, including Notre-Dame-de-la-Platé and Notre-Dame-de-Bonne-Espérance.
The city of Castres is dotted with many churches. Lovers of religious heritage will be able to visit, for example, the present-day Saint-Jacques church, dated 1626. The visit continues with Notre-Dame-de-la-Platé, inspired by the church of Gesu in Rome, which houses a baroque altarpiece. For its part, the church of Notre-Dame-de-Bonne-Espérance presents an impressive 12-meter fresco dedicated to the theme of the Apocalypse according to Saint John. It was created by Gaston-Louis Marchal, a former disciple of the sculptor Ossip Zadkine and born in Damelevières.
