SAINT MICHAEL'S ABBEY
Visit to discover a 10th century abbey with a gothic nave, a superb chapel and 19th century organs in Gaillac.
Founded in the 10thcentury , the abbey is an integral part of the town's history. It was the Benedictine community, then based at Saint-Michel, that took over the vineyard, which had been abandoned since Roman times. Partially rebuilt in 1271, the abbey successively added a Romanesque corolla chevet, a Gothic nave, a western facade and a superb chapel with an armorial keystone. A 13th-century font, Cavaillé-Coll 19th-century organs and many other wonders await you!
