HOTEL PIERRE DE BRENS
Hôtel Pierre de Brens, a building that has housed the Archives Municipales de la Ville de Gaillac since 2000.
Since 2000, the Hôtel Pierre de Brens, a listed historic monument, has housed Gaillac's municipal archives. The urban residence of the Pierre de Brens family from the 13th to 15th centuries, the building has preserved traces of 13th-century geminated openings. Acquired by the Département in 1825, the hotel was transformed into a prison until 1850. In 1858, it became the property of the Gaillac Masonic Lodge, which held its meetings here for almost 50 years. A number of other organizations set up offices here before the town acquired the property in 1970.
