GRIFFOLT FOUNTAIN
Fountain remarkable by the bronze group, representing four characters surmounted by a rooster in Gaillac
Already present in the 16th century, this fountain is remarkable for the lead group that appears on it. It represents four characters surmounted by a rooster: it is Silenus educating Bacchus. The basin and the fittings in red Caunes marble date from the 17th and 18th centuries. In six centuries, it has never stopped flowing, being an integral part of the heritage and landscape of Gaillac. The work displayed in the square is a copy of the original fountain, the latter being kept in the museum for preservation purposes.
