L'ATELIER DE ROSE-MARIE
In her workshop in Graulhet, Rose-Marie creates skin clothing that summarizes her universe but also her personal history. Arriving from Portugal at the age of 4, this seamstress grew up with a father employed in a shack. Leather, its smell, touch and the many ways of working with it have thus influenced his destiny. Rose-Marie trained in leather goods before learning how to make them. She worked in several houses before creating her own, the Atelier de Rose-Marie, in 1998. Today, this small hand is the guardian of a precious know-how that is part of the Megissière tradition of the region. She is the last one in Graulhet to manufacture custom-made leather and skin clothing. She continues to source her supplies from local factories to make trousers, jackets, shepherd's capes, wedding capes! Unique pieces, most of them made of lamb, deer, goat leather...
