IRON CASTLE
It is the story of a medieval castle that became a prison before being dismantled during the Revolution. It is believed to date from the 12th century. Surrounded by massive towers, it conceals in its courtyard the fragile beauty of Renaissance sculptures. In the 16th century - the time of the religious wars - it became a Renaissance residence, where a great Huguenot lord, Guillaume Guillot, one of the most ardent Calvinists in the region, lived. He made Ferrières one of the strongholds of the Reformed in the region. Finally, the castle was used as a state prison during the revolt of the camisards in the Cévennes. In 1708, bought by the states of Languedoc, by order of the king, the fathers had their children locked up, using the famous "letters of seal". Unfortunately, we cannot visit it at the moment. But go around and visit the Protestant Museum located in the village.
