THE CHAPEL OF SAINT-JACQUES
Chapelle Saint-Jacques in Monestiés has been one of the wonders of the Albigensian region since 1774.
A former hospital on the route to Santiago de Compostela, the Chapel of St. James has been home to one of the wonders of the Albigensian region since 1774: a group of monumental statues transferred following the dismantling of the Château de Combefa, once the summer residence of the bishops of Albi. This masterpiece of 20 Gothic statues in polychrome limestone represents the last three episodes of Christ's Passion: the Crucifixion, the Pietà and the Entombment.
