MONTREDON CASTLE
Castle of the Xth century inhabited by the counts of Toulouse and families of influence, the vestiges present some sections of walls
This 10th-century castle stood until the 18th century, but today you can only admire its ruins. Built and inhabited by the Counts of Toulouse, it has successively belonged to various influential families. Famous figures such as Simon de Montfort, François I, the painter Van Dyck, Condé and Richelieu have all stayed here. Of this vast 2,000m2 quadrangle, flanked by 4 crenellated towers, a 640m2 inner courtyard, a moat and a drawbridge, only a few sections of wall remain.
