NOTRE-DAME-DU-BOURG CHURCH
Church built by the Benedictine monks of Moissac, standing in the heart of the lower town in Rabastens
Built by the Benedictine monks of Moissac, the church stands in the heart of the lower town. Damaged during the Albigensian crusade, a vast choir was added at the beginning of the 14th century. The Wars of Religion and the Revolution contributed to its destruction. It was not until 1856 that its restoration was undertaken. It was on this occasion that the wall paintings were rediscovered, which encouraged its inclusion on the Unesco World Heritage list.
