THE RUINS OF THE CASTELA
The ruins of Castela de Saint-Sulpice, a fortress with impressive ruins and a mysterious underground passage.
Built on a feudal motte by Sicard d'Alaman, then Lord of Saint-Sulpice, this 13th-century fortress retains few traces of its feudal history. Although the violence of the Wars of Religion destroyed many of its buildings, the ruins still bear the imprint of its architecture, including part of the chapel and keep, and above all the extensive underground passage dug in the middle of the Middle Ages. It's easy to imagine the glory days of this powerful castle, once a place of influence. It's also a pleasant place for a quiet stroll.
