Two artists, one a painter, the other a sculptor, two talents from Montalban, exhibited in a superb and magnificently renovated museum.
This museum was founded in 1820. But it was in 1867, after Ingres' death, that the establishment took on its identity and its development by inheriting all the works of the famous Montalban painter. Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres is no longer the only one honored here. You will discover more than 70 sculptures by Emile-Antoine Bourdelle, another child prodigy of the city who was born near the museum. The painter and sculptor gave Montauban a very rich collection. More than 4,500 drawings by Ingres and about 60 paintings are on display.
