BISHOP'S GARDEN

Magnificent walking garden with different owners after the Revolution, now owned by the département since 1974.
The Bishop's garden is located near the headquarters of the General Council, it owes its name to Pierre de Bertier, bishop of Montauban who designed it in 1674. Its flowerbeds, arbours and orangery made it a magnificent park which, alas, fell into decline after the Revolution. It passed through the hands of several owners. One of them, Mr. Fabre de Cahuzac, built the castle of Montauriol (in 1870), which became the residence of the bishops in the early 20th century. In 1974, it was bought by the Department. The garden remains a pleasant place for a walk.
