The forest was first owned by the monks of Moissac, then by the Counts of Toulouse, before becoming a royal estate
If we exclude the Grésigne, which is largely in the Tarn, the Agre forest is the largest in the department. It was owned by the monks of Moissac, then by the counts of Toulouse before becoming a royal domain. Although severely cut down a few years ago by the route of the A62, this forest managed by the Office National des Forêts still has some beautiful remains. Hornbeams, oaks, maritime and Scots pines share the 1,500 hectares of the forest, which are criss-crossed by cycling and walking routes. You can hike, picnic and discover a beautiful treetop adventure course open in the summer.
