The big brick building has recently changed manager. It is now Philippe Detourbe, owner of Alexis, a semi-gastronomic restaurant in Avesnes-sur-Helpe, who runs the place. For the little anecdote, the two places are named after his sons. At Mathys, the cuisine is still brasserie style, with simple but well executed dishes: pig's trotters, andouillette... But you can also find more typical proposals of the region like the unavoidable welsh. The decoration is minimalist but the visitor feels good there and spends a good moment.
