A garden housing almost a thousand species of wild flora from northern France and a second dedicated to medicinal plants.
Inaugurated in June 2003, this garden belongs to the National Botanical Conservatory of Bailleul, an organization of the Ministry of Ecology and Sustainable Development. The Garden of Wild Plants was designed as a place of life and educational encounter. It also makes it possible to develop the concept of sustainable management of the garden through an interview conducted in a total spirit of respect for the environment: Essentially manual weeding, non-use of chemicals, composting… It houses nearly species of wild flora in northern regions of France, and is dedicated to understanding the concept of the living environment of plants and the importance of preserving this living heritage, especially through the history of useful and ornamental plants. Recently, a second garden was created: the herbal garden, rich with 500 species on a surface of 1 500 m ². These plants are organized according to their particular biotopes. It's because medicinal plants need their natural environment to have their curative properties! For various geographical origins, most of these plants are wild species.
