THE OSTREANT TOWER
Tower flanked by four turrets, the tower of Ostrevant, remnant of an old castle dating from the 12th century in Bouchain.
Remnant of an ancient fortified castle dating from the 12th century, this keep remains the only one to have survived the ravages of time. This square tower is flanked by four turrets, and the walls still show the openings through which the artillerymen fired. Indeed, it was transformed into a military building in the 16th century, the roof itself received cannon fire and the building had to withstand the assaults. In the 18th century, it was once again modified and its interior structure cleared to allow free movement. A must-see for its unique character.
