SEAFARERS' MISERY
Calvary of the sailors perched on the dune in Bray-Dunes, a popular spot and part of the stages of many hiking trails.
Raised on one of the highest dunes of the coast, the Calvaire des Marins was built on the initiative of Father Catry. The cross overhangs the sea by more than 35 m. The calvary is completed by a statue of a woman surrounded by a sailor and a fisherman saying goodbye before leaving for the long fishing campaigns. This statue symbolizes the pain of men and their sacrifices. The calvary is a stop on many hiking trails and a popular spot to watch the sunset on the beach on sunny days.
