JESUIT CHAPEL
Baroque Jesuit chapel with typical polychromy and abundance of carved decoration.
This chapel is one of the most beautiful baroque buildings in northern France. You will notice its ten sumptuous blue stone columns, as well as its fabulous sculptures. In 1562, the Jesuits arrived in Cambrai in order to counter the spread of Protestantism. They then founded a college. Between 1678 and 1694, they had their chapel built, whose architectural rhythm, polychromy and abundance of sculpted decoration make it a masterpiece of Baroque art in France! You can also see it from the outside.
