THE MILL
A tradition of tradition, Flanders has kept many intact mills, some of which are still in operation like this, the castle mill, Kasteel-Meulen. In the past, Mont-Kassel was dotted with these wooden giants, in all, destined for milling grains and oilseeds. The mill of the castle, first of the name, dates back to the 1911 th century and was burned in. In 1947, the Kassel initiative union decided to buy back that of a neighbouring commune, Arneke, which was délabrait following the accidentelle death of the sucker. Opened to the public in 1949, the current mill sits instead of the old and still works. The guided tour allows you to discover or rediscover the techniques and equipment used to obtain the flour of which a bag is offered to each visitor. But flour is not the only thing to honour, flax is also a good place because flax tordoirs are still working, the oil resulting from the crushing of flax being sold locally. Visit, not forgetting to admire the panorama in the passage.
