TOWN HOTEL
Impressive town hall built by the architect Du Buat, with six Doric columns in stone from Ecaussines.
This impressive town hall, overlooking the square, was built in 1774 by the architect Du Buat, on the orders of the Duke Emmanuel de Croÿ, then governor of the city. The six Doric columns in Ecaussines stone, which give the facade of the town hall a sense of majesty, overhang a base made from Bavay stone. To be seen, the Guards' room, the marriage room, the former court of the justice of the peace, the great hall... Several paintings of Antwerp artists, dated from the 16th century, are exposed on the second floor.
