MEMORIAL DE LOUVERVAL
The Louverval Memorial honors the Commonwealth soldiers who fell in the Battle of Cambrai.
The Louverval Memorial is a World War I military memorial dedicated to the memory of the 7,048 Commonwealth soldiers who died during the 15 days of the Battle of Cambrai. These soldiers, from South Africa and the United Kingdom, fell in November and December 1917, while the fighting was still raging. The Battle of Cambrai saw the commitment of over 400 tanks that succeeded in breaking through the (supposedly) untouchable Hinderburg Line. The memorial is here to celebrate their sacrifice and valour.
