ST. JAMES CHURCH
Church located in Douai, with a choir, an ambulatory and an apse realized by the architect Grigny.
The heritage of the English monks is reflected in the presence of this former chapel of the English Recollects convent of the 17th century. Its construction was completed at the beginning of the 18th century and served the sisters until the convent was closed under Napoleon. The architect Grigny enlarged the chapel in the middle of the 19th century by adding a choir, an ambulatory and an apse. In 1880, a generous family donated an organ, consisting of about 2,700 pipes. Inside, there are several objects still dedicated to Saint James.
