Just a stone's throw from the Radisson Blu in Malo-les-Bains, L'Iode is a must for lovers of seafood. Between prawns, salmon, crab, haddock and lobster, the choice is hard to make, but the quality is always there! For those in the know, Donatien, the man in charge, is also the owner of the nearby Dona (which specializes in grilled meats) and has an established reputation in Dunkirk. Special mention for the seafood platters at very reasonable prices! To be enjoyed facing the horizon and the waves...

Mijn verwachtingen bij dit restaurant waren hoog, een mooi en verzorgd interieur en perfecte bediening wekken de verwachting van een perfecte maaltijd. Mijn vriendin nam als voorgerecht carpaccio van Sint jacobsvruchten, hier was werkelijk niets op aan te merken, bijzonder lekker! Mijn voorgerecht bestond uit oa gerookte zalm en heilbot, de kwaliteit van de vis viel tegen, zeker voor deze prijs. Als hoofdgerecht nam mijn vriendin pasta alla vongole, wederom goed klaargemaakt en smaakvol. Ik bestelde (uiteraard ????) de plateau de fruits de mer royal, de "full option" dus... Algemeen zeer lekkere en verse oesters, kokkels en noem maar op, maar... Wat voor mij het hoogtepunt had moeten worden viel erg tegen. De gekookte halve krab en halve kreeft waren erg droog alsof ze al een hele tijd in de koelkast hadden gelegen. Dit zette een kleine domper op mijn vreugde over deze prachtige schotel. Conclusie: algemeen goed restaurant, maar in deze prijsklasse had ik meer verwacht.
