BAIN DES GIVRÉS

Every year in Dunkirk, locals and tourists alike celebrate January by taking a "frosty bath" in the North Sea!
How do you classify this event in a tourist guide? It's not a party, it's not a carnival, it's not a sporting event, it's not a parade. But it's a bit of all that. It all started when friends got together to celebrate the arrival of the new millennium. They got together on the first day of the century for a rejuvenating bath. There were just a handful of them, but since then there have been almost 500 frosty people who get wet every year, from those who dip their toes in the water to those who happily roll in the North Sea!
