BRITISH MEMORIAL
Memorial to the 4,528 soldiers of the British Expeditionary Force who died in the 1939-1940 campaign.
This Memorial of Remembrance was erected in memory of the 4,528 soldiers of the British Expeditionary Force who died during the 1939-1940 campaign (Battle of Dunkirk), some of whose bodies have never been found. The glass artist John Hutton engraved in glass the historical events in which the soldiers fell, on a large window inside the Memorial. Inaugurated on June 29, 1957 by Queen Elizabeth II, this monument is well known to the British who come to visit the area and pay their respects to the graves of their forefathers.
