THE BELFRY OF ST. LAWRENCE
A massive square tower, 58 m high, listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Listed as a World Heritage Site by Unesco, this massive square tower, 58 m high, was originally attached to the church of Saint-Eloi until a fire separated the two buildings in 1558. Built around 1440, it houses a carillon of 50 bells whose drone, called Jean-Bart, weighs seven tons. From the top of the belfry (accessed by elevator and 65 steps), the 360-degree panorama offers a superb view of the city center, the district of Malo-les-Bains and the port. The access to the belfry is done in the tourist office.
