This fort is part of the defensive sites built around Maubeuge at the end of the 19th century. A tour of the site, completed by a visit to the museum dedicated to the First World War, with a sound and light reconstruction of a trench from that time, allows you to appreciate the main elements of the fort. After the discovery of an American fighter plane and its pilot, Lieutenant W. Patton, who fell fifty-six years earlier and is buried in the ground, a memorial gathering the elements found on the crash site is dedicated to them.
