Remnant of a defensive stronghold, this beautiful and imposing tower is part of the heritage to see in Sainte-Livrade-sur-Lot.
Built at the end of the 13th and beginning of the 14th century on the city wall, this monument has been listed since 1925 and represents all that remains of a defensive stronghold, which legend attributes to Richard the Lionheart. The tower was transformed into a communal prison during the Revolution. The outside staircase leads to thefirst floor where the room is vaulted with brick arches. Nowadays, it is used for exhibitions on three levels. A model of the bastide can be admired there. The Tour du Roy is one of the heritage stops to make in Sainte-Livrade-sur-Lot.
