The Battle of Fromelles walking tour retraces the history of this battle that took place on July 19 and 20, 1916, during the First World War. The battle, though brief, was also bloody: nearly 2,000 Australians were killed or missing, 1,500 British were hors de combat, 3,500 soldiers were wounded and taken prisoner and 1,600 Germans were killed or wounded. This walk in and around the village of Fromelles will take you past the Abbiette Bunker, the Australian Memorial Park, various Commonwealth of the Great War cemeteries and the Battle of Fromelles Museum. The journey is 8.5 km long and takes about 2.5 hours and 30 minutes. A circuit rich in history, useful for the duty of remembrance.
