The Musée de la bataille de Fromelles, housing archaeological digs, is an essential reminder of the past.

Created in 2014, one hundred years after the terrible Battle of Fromelles, which claimed more than 8,500 lives in a confrontation between British and Australian soldiers and a Bavarian division, this museum is as much a witness to this bloody page of history as it is a spokesperson for the thousands of soldiers who perished. In 2009, an archaeological excavation campaign was launched and hundreds of bodies were identified, contributing to the essential work of remembrance.

Opening time and information on BATTLE OF CHEESES MUSEUM

Closed from December 25th to January 1st. Annual closures to be consulted on the site. Open from Wednesday to Monday from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm. Ticket office closes at 5pm. Free until 18 years old. Adults : 5 €. Group (15 persons) : 3 €. Guided tour of the museum: 50€. Guided tour of the cemetery: 30€.

Musée très intéressant.Nous y avons été bien accueilli.L'audioguide permet d'obtenir pas mal d'informations.Je recommande fortement. Un musée à faire pour les passionnés.

Nous nous y sommes rendus une nouvelle fois alors qu'il y a dix ans, l'annonce en avait été faite. La tombe du Commonwealth était émouvante et, comme toutes les tombes, un symbole de la bravoure de ceux qui ont combattu ici. Le musée fait revivre cette histoire et montre la résilience des soldats de toutes les nations qui ont combattu ici. Les expositions sont excellentes, les éléments interactifs humanisent les personnes qui ont combattu ici et racontent également l'histoire de leurs familles. C'est très émouvant et le personnel est formidable. Geoffrey, l'un des historiens, nous a parlé pendant des heures et nous a dit qu'ils appréciaient toutes les informations que les parents pouvaient fournir sur les soldats enterrés ici. N'hésitez pas à le visiter si vous êtes dans le coin.
