This museum has the distinction of having been created by the famous Fauvist painter himself. During his lifetime, he donated eighty works that today make up the permanent collection. A must-see for painting enthusiasts... In addition to the artistic aspect, the vast residence in the heart of Cateau-Cambrésis is also well worth a visit. The museum is currently undergoing a major renovation and expansion. It is due to reopen on July 1, 2024.

musee a visiter plusieurs fois, les enfants aiment, joli vitrail de matisse, parfois ateliers pour enfants bien organisés ce qui laisse aux parents, ou grands parents le temps de visiter à leur aise ce musee

Un très beau musée, à faire avec la visite guidée pour découvrir le cheminement artistique de Matisse. J'ai découvert Herbin que je ne connaissais pas.
A recommander aux néophytes et aux amateurs d'arts.
Ne pas oublier un petit tour dans le parc.
