Remains of a remarkable abbey with a monumental dovecote and an imposing porch in Marchiennes.
Among the remains still visible today, visitors can pass beneath the abbey's imposing entrance porch, built in 1748. They can also admire the monumental dovecote, dated 1754, which was in fact the abbey's second gateway, giving the monks easy access to the surrounding forest and fields. The monks of Marchiennes were never idle! As well as working the fields, they were also brewers, as evidenced by the former Dufour brewery, which still exists today.
