THE NEW WORLD PARK
Apart from downtown, in the heart of the New World district, the park of the same name is a superb example of industrial requalification. In fact, where exotic essences and dye plants are in contrast to the small displayed trails, there was a large firm. The name of the small aisle that borders the park should put you on the puce as to the identity of the park. This driveway is called "The Wire Wire." Did you find? At the Wire Wire was the first name of the company Phildar! Created in 1942 by the famous Mulliez family, the brand at The Wire Wire involved the manufacture of knitting yarn from all the family plants (and they were numerous!) Became Phildar, the sign continues to exist with the same success. The Roubaix production site closed in 1990. A project for industrial wasteland requalification is then launched. Inaugurated in May 2000, the New World Park, which spans 4,5 ha, pays tribute to the incredible success of this family. Here nature resumes its rights with grace, while registering in an incredible industrial history.
