Discover Saint-Pol-sur-Mer's remarkable military remains, including an anti-aircraft bunker from the Second World War.
Saint-Pol-sur-Mer, a commune of 24,000 inhabitants, is home to some remarkable military remains. The Jean-Bart lock, erected in 1715, was renowned throughout Europe before its destruction in 1717, ordered by the Hague Peace Treaty. As for the First World War, a plaque commemorates Georges Guynemer, the famous aviator who passed through the Rue de la République before his fatal flight in 1917. A World War II anti-aircraft bunker can also be found at the Dépôts de Pétrole Côtiers.
